Membership Eligibility
- Persons of the following classes shall be eligible for
ordinary membership of the Society:-
a) lawyers of the Catholic faith, residing or working
in Kuala Lumpur or its surrounding areas;
b) persons of the Catholic faith who are residing or
working in Kuala Lumpur or its surrounding areas and who
are:-
- eligible to practice the legal profession in any
jurisdiction or country other than Malaysia; or
- sitting or retired judges of any superior or
subordinate court in Malaysia; or
- lecturers or tutors in any faculty or school of law
of any university or college situate in Kuala Lumpur or
its surrounding areas.
- Persons of the following classes who are of the
Catholic faith shall be eligible for associate membership
of the Society:-
Undergraduates or students in any faculty or school of
law of any university or college situated in Kuala Lumpur
or its surrounding areas and enrolled in any course of
study leading to the award of a degree in law or to the
Certificate in Legal Practice. No university or University
college student shall be eligible for membership unless
with the prior approval of the Vice-Chancellor of the
University concerned.
- In the event of any doubt with regard to the
eligibility of any person to membership (ordinary or
associate) of the Society, the Committee’s decision shall
be binding.
- Associate members shall not be required to pay any
entrance fees or annual subscriptions or other dues.
- Every applicant whose application has been approved
shall upon payment of the prescribed entrance fee be
admitted as a member of the Society. Every ordinary member
shall be entitled to all the privileges of membership
including the power to vote and to hold office. Associate
members shall be entitled to all the privileges of
membership except that they shall neither be entitled to
vote nor to hold office.
